Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches

The newest addition to our bug collection is Madagascar hissing cockroaches! Yesterday we took bugs to girl scouts for show and tell and to help the girls earn their bug badges.

I have to say I was shocked how the kids reacted! Especially since when we got the dubia roaches Sage said if one got loose she was going going to move out. Sage hasn't really cared for the roaches since we got them, but did hold a baby hisser when they first came.

Out of four girls "E" loved all the bugs but especially the hissing roaches, that girl had no fear! Sage decided since "E" was good with them then she was OK with them too. She is no longer afraid of the roaches unlike the screams she did when we first go them. We have heard they make good pets and already have sold a few for just that. In fact "T" took one home yesterday and I heard her dad said there was no way he was touching so she did for him! LOL.

This is how they came shipped. No bag just in a box......

I'm happy to say that eventually most of the kids touched one bug or another. I don't ever remember getting to play with bugs when I was in girl scouts long ago!
